Getting Started

Connect your Fox ESS hybrid inverter to monitor real-time generation, battery state, and grid flows — and let Joule Genie optimise battery charging around your tariff.

Step 1: Generate an API Key

Log in to your Fox ESS account at foxesscloud.com. Navigate to User Center > Open API (or foxesscloud.com/#/user-center/open-api). Click Generate API Key. Copy the API key — it is shown once.

Step 2: Find Your Inverter Serial Number

In the Fox ESS Cloud portal, go to Device and note the serial number (SN) of your inverter. Alternatively, the serial number is on the inverter label or in the Fox ESS app under device details.

Step 3: Add the Integration in Joule Genie

In Joule Genie, go to Settings > Integrations > Add Integration and select Fox ESS from the Inverter category. Enter your API key and click Find my inverters. Joule Genie will connect to the Fox ESS Cloud and list all inverters on your account.

Step 4: Select Your Inverter and Verify

Select your inverter from the list. Within a few minutes, the dashboard will show real-time generation, battery SOC, and grid power. The optimiser will begin scheduling battery charging into the cheapest tariff periods.

Troubleshooting

• "Invalid token"? Regenerate your API key in the Fox ESS portal — each generation replaces the previous key.
• No inverters listed? Ensure the inverter is registered and online in the Fox ESS app before connecting.
