Getting Started

Connect your GivEnergy hybrid inverter to monitor real-time generation, battery state, and grid flows — and let Joule Genie optimise battery charging around your tariff.

Step 1: Generate Your API Key

Log in to your GivEnergy account at givenergy.cloud. Click your name in the top-right corner and go to Account Details. Click the button to Generate API Key. The key will be emailed to your registered address and does not change unless you regenerate it. Copy the key from the email.

Step 2: Add the Integration in Joule Genie

In Joule Genie, go to Settings > Integrations > Add Integration and select GivEnergy from the Inverter category. Paste your API key into the field and click Find my inverters. Joule Genie will connect to the GivEnergy Cloud and list all inverters on your account.

Step 3: Select Your Inverter

Select your inverter from the list. The serial number is the inverter’s identifier (e.g. EL20001234) — this is also printed on the inverter label. If you only have one inverter it will be selected automatically.

Step 4: Verify Connection

Within a few minutes, the dashboard will show real-time solar generation, battery SOC, and grid power. The optimiser will begin scheduling battery charging into the cheapest tariff periods.

Troubleshooting

• API key not working? Regenerate the key in Account Details — each generation replaces the previous one. Check the email for the new key.
• No inverters listed? Ensure your inverter is registered in the GivEnergy portal and showing as online in the GivEnergy app. Inverters that are offline or not yet registered will not appear.
• Readings not updating? Check that the GivEnergy portal shows live data for your inverter. If the portal is also not updating, there may be a connectivity issue with the inverter’s cloud dongle.
