Pod Point

Fully Tested EV Charger

Monitor plug status and charge power for your Pod Point EV charger, with remote start and stop of charging. Supports Pod Point Solo 3, Universal AC, and Twin chargers.

Getting Started

Connect your Pod Point EV charger to see real-time plug status and charge power in the dashboard — and let Joule Genie start and stop charging at the cheapest tariff times.

Step 1: Confirm Your Pod Point App Account

Make sure you can log in to the Pod Point app (available on iOS and Android) with your email and password, and that your charger appears as online in the app. Your charger must have a working internet connection (the charger light should be solid blue when idle and connected). No API key is required — Joule Genie uses the same credentials as the Pod Point app.

Step 2: Add the Integration in Joule Genie

In Joule Genie, go to Settings > Integrations > Add Integration and select Pod Point from the Charger category. Enter the email address and password you use to log in to the Pod Point app.

Step 3: Select Your Charger

Joule Genie will connect to your Pod Point account and list all chargers registered to it. Select the charger you want to monitor and control. If you only have one charger it will be selected automatically. The charger is identified by its PPID (e.g. PSL-123456), which you can also find in the Pod Point app under the charger details.

Step 4: Verify Connection

When your EV is plugged in, the dashboard will show the charger as plugged in and display charge power. The optimiser will schedule charging into the cheapest rate slots on your tariff — starting and stopping the charge automatically. You can also manually override charging from the EV section of the dashboard.

Supported Features

  • Real-time plug state (plugged in / unplugged)
  • Charge power in watts (while charging)
  • Remote start charging
  • Remote stop charging

Supported Chargers

All Pod Point home chargers with cloud connectivity: Solo 3, Universal AC, and Twin. The charger must have a working internet connection and be registered to your Pod Point account.

Troubleshooting

  • "Authentication failed"? Double-check the email and password — these are the same credentials you use in the Pod Point app. If you registered via a social provider (Google), try resetting your password in the app to create a direct email/password login.
  • No chargers found? Ensure your charger is registered and showing as online in the Pod Point app before connecting. Chargers that are offline will not appear in the API response.
  • Charger not responding to start/stop commands? The charger must be online and in a state that accepts commands (idle or connected-waiting). If the charger is already in a session started from the physical button or the app, remote commands may not take effect until the session ends.
  • Plug state not updating? Pod Point status updates depend on the charger's cloud connection. If the charger has lost its internet connection (flashing or amber light), status will not update until connectivity is restored.
